Agartala, 28 Feb 2013:Left Front in a clear verdict is to form the 7th Left Front Government. Left Front has secured 50 seats of total 60 seats in the Tripura Assembly election securing one more than 2008 verdict when they won 49 seats. Manik Sarkar is set to continue as the Chief Minister of Tripura.
Meanwhile the opposition Congress and INPT were cornered to wall securing just 10 seats with some of its heavy weights losing in the election. Surajit Dutta ex-President of Tripura Pradesh Congress lost in the Ramnagar constituency, whereas the lone sitting MLA of INPT Bijoy Kr Hrangkhawl has lost to its nearest rival Lalit Debbarma at Ambasa constituency.
Of the total 20 ST assembly seats Left Front retian its earlier tally of 19 seats. Debachandra Hrangkhawl of the Opposition Congress party manage to win the only seat of Karamcherra in the ST reserved seats. The main ally of Congress party and the main regional party INPT could not open an account in the 2013 election. All the 11 candidates of the INPT lost in the election.
Gagadish Debbarma , General secretary of INPT while talking to media was disappointed on the result but accepted the failure of his party and welcome th verdict of the people. He said the party will now seat and introspect the performance of the party.
The left front not only increased its tally but also increased the vote parcentage. The result is almost a replica of 2008 election result.
