Where are We Heading to? By:Amulya Jamatia, Category: General, Posted on:2010-11-06 08:04:35
Enough! All the arguments and sentiments. The pacing world has no time for such petty emotions. We all know that the world is going through galloping pace and speed. Only few years back was mobile introduced in Tripura but now see even in the remotest area we can assess the internet facility. Such is the world today. Not only that even the human civilization is also evolving tremendously according to the changing time. In pursuit of the time the human race are always on the verge of competition among communities as seen in the Indian history- Matsanyana, where the bigger fish catches prey on the smaller fishesfor their survival.
If Tripuris are to survive as a race in the present we need to adapt to the changing time yet retain the virginity of the language, culture and identity. As I have mentioned in my earlier writings in the Rangchak Buduk, not a single sentence can be spoken by us without the inclusion of alien language. No doubt, the language is not static but too much mingling of alien languages in the aboriginal language will demise the purity of the language. We do have a rich method of calculation. It is a sad thing that we are not using it in our day to day life. I wonder majority of us would fail to count from one to hundred in kokborok, where as it would be easier to count in Bangla. Isnt it a shame? We take pride in imitating them. What a pity! I must but praise our Halam and Reang brethren. They still do have the purity in their language compared to Debbarmas and Jamatias. If you go to the market you will find them calculating in their numerals. Socially also if we consider, we are alienated among ourselves. It may be on the ground of religion, party or prejudices. Where are we heading to? This is the question I usually ask myself.
The electronic media is the gateway to ventilate our issues. It is only through this doorway we can focus to the world about the problems that we are facing. So I exhort Tripuris dealing with this medium to extend their constructive ideas to support the cause. This must be the medium through which the plight, pride of the Tripuris be focused to the world. Here we are just the opposite, poking at others noses. I dont mean about the constructive or the positive arguments; there has to be and must because it is the sign of good participation and constructive discussion. We may have many agendas, goals; but we waste our time in arguments and debate. Instead if we ought to focus in the areas which are of immense importance, we would have gone a step ahead.
The advanced countries enjoy the trip to moon or the deep sea marriages but here we are still discussing about the unity or the disunity among ourselves. How very different! We lacked conviction and the zeal. No matter what others are, we must try as an individual to contribute for the greater cause of the society because Tolstoy had rightly proved in his story "A spark of fire burns the house" or can burn the house.
